1. Your tearful eyes, are they dew or lightning?
Patience has departed, and there is no rescue

2. O you who binds my heart with ease
The embers have ripened what you intend

3. Do not seek your heart amid the coals
What remains of you has no grasp upon it

4. Had you but left a heart within me
Empty of love, not missing it

5. A heart between her fangs
Fell to pieces, how could it not shrivel?

6. It is enough that her hiss, were it to emanate
From a skin shedding its skin, would make the skin tremble

7. How your ribs have been shaken atop her
Until they meet a dormant, extinguished fire

8. Thus fragments of your guts fell as tears
Red upon melting guts – you bear witness

9. If the days but knew what they have wrought
They would wish to expire

10. She has postponed the calamity of tribulations
In every heart, a mourning ceremony is convened

11. For she has eclipsed a sun, the Al-Mustafa’s sons
In whom they hoped their horizon would be joyous

12. By God, o Time, you have shown them
In the blossoming of good tidings, pacified

13. While amidst their utmost elation
Renewing their clothes for bliss

14. They all extended the eye of hope
To watch the rise of their pride’s full moon

15. When the harbinger informs them
The coffin of that full moon has arrived

16. So the bliss takes on the hue of sorrow
The treasures of life tremble for it

17. A coffin has come, in which that bliss
Is carried dead – the professional wailers wail over it

18. And behind it the noblemen cry out
Calling: To where does it head?

19. O you who carry the man of my eyes, stop
I implore you by God, do not go far

20. Leave him to me, I have enough
To prepare him, with blinded wet eyes

21. Their tears are his washing, and his shroud
Is their pallor, and the eyelid his coffin

22. You betrayed, o Time, though loyalty from you
Cannot be far-fetched for the glorious

23. Go away in disgrace - betrayal indeed!
Your face will never be brightened by it

24. You have no right to evil against the people of Hijj
You have returned with no fresh water

25. O sighing of ignorance at him
You must know who laments to whom

26. And rapping at the house of a dew that meets
At its door the aided and the champion

27. It suffices you from a house whose star rises
On the horizon of the sky, envied

28. Though the meteors of the horizon are extinguished
The fires within it are not quenched

29. None other than it is the orbit of glory
And the ascension of vileness to it

30. Its refuge is for the pious and companionable
Its eyebrows are honor and shelter

31. Did you not find it a sanctified sanctuary
Circumambulated by the black and the white?

32. How then do you assail it improperly
As if you were an unbeliever in it?

33. It is nothing but the house of Pride which
The tribe of Benefaction has built

34. A house whose lord is the Pleased, his Lord
The Most Benevolent of those sought below the heavens

35. My Master – the people of the sublime know
He is the incomparable scholar among the people

36. And that were it not for his guidance, the people
Would stray, with no righteousness nor guide

37. And that were it not for the dew of his palm
Neither sustenance nor sustainer would be seen

38. You meet him with a bright face out of awe
Which makes even the raging lion cower

39. Beloved for the beauty of his character
Even by those who envy his glory

40. No fearful bird nests
Except securely sleeping in safety through him

41. Who other than him calls the people
Without you from the sea of my generosity, give

42. And extends a palm of rare companionability?
His favors among the people are praised

43. The clouds are miserly, so in their miserliness
The rain clouds bear witness against them

44. You see in his comfort seas
Overflowing, their deep waters choppy

45. Secrets that are named, but they are in fact
Seas of generosity, foaming with dew

46. He is, by my life, the authority in magnanimity
And a sign in favor that cannot be denied

47. He has stood for God in a way that a portion of it
Would be the foundation of all the glories of the world

48. A noble one, nothing of the generous compares
To the Most Generous of calling, through him manifest

49. That is Abu al-Kasim, rain of liberality
Parent of glories, its luckiest star

50. Where are the sons of the elite from his glory?
And his glory no rising full moon has attained

51. Say to them: Do not seek the path of those
Whose paths to glory you will never find

52. Stand, all of you, wherever you are, for you have
No ascension to his sublimenesses

53. It is inconceivable that anything lofty
Be associated with him besides the Pleased, branch of the most glorious clan

54. Blessed is the rising in its right-hand blessing
Everyone who has saluted it at dawn is fortunate

55. He sees the traits of good in his assets
As all bear witness that he is the best of all people

56. Well-mannered, his link to the sublime
Its greatest chieftain and leader

57. Thus he came uniquely perfect
In prohibition - Favor and Praise extol him

58. Sun of the sublime guiding its horizons
A full moon to which the full moon of the sky bows down

59. And its meteors are the blossom Husayn of liberality
The most fragrant born into the sublime

60. And the Pride of the masters of righteousness, the Chosen
Who is purer than the budding sprout?

61. And the star of guidance, the trustee of piety
The composed represser of rage, the glorious youth

62. And expounder of merit and spirit of the sublime
Is there any pride to be found like this?

63. They are meteors of pride which
Have been used to interpret each

64. Envy of them has been kindled
Stars of merit that have blossomed, by their light

65. Those near and far have been guided
To the extent that all the world has said:

66. By my life this is solid honor
O family of benefaction – you have no substitute

67. After this disaster, which though
Within it is the reward of patience without end

68. Patience over it is not praiseworthy
Rather from the like of you it is praised

69. He who is spared your loss by fate
In the Garden of Eternity has a seat

70. Brought close by an eye and eye of the sublime
Yearning for its sight, never sleeping

71. And since they buried Al-Mahdi therein
The tear of the eye of glory has vanished, unfreezing

72. For his living in the shade of its Paradise
Is, by God, most pleasant repose
