1. Time stumbled and fell swiftly
Many a servant disobeyed then returned obedient

2. He slipped but then retracted when
Awe filled his heart's cracks

3. He paired his sin with repentance, and felt
Remorse for his grave wrongdoing, head bowed in humility

4. And wished, though he made amends late
That he had done so before falling victim

5. He saw that he wronged a man
Whose nobility all heads would ransom

6. And whose shoulder upheld
The dome of religion, not religion bearing him

7. Upon it Gabriel's hands rested
Caressing the Chosen One's shoulder, tending its wounds

8. And he ascended, giving glad tidings to the Highest Assembly
Of a Master they had feared would stumble

9. O eyes that stayed awake last night, welcome
Today he who came, desired by yearning hearts

10. O hearts that fluttered in longing for him
For you he came loyal, so do not torment your chests

11. He came healed in body, leaving
The hearts of his enviers sickened

12. And time came repentant, pleading
Forgiveness from me, for evilly I acted

13. Raising his gaze toward the one whose exaltation
Broke the submission of kings

14. And in his palm he saw the prey swoop
Seeking a kiss, bowing in prostration

15. So he drew near, kissing the dust of his feet
Offering only tears as intercession

16. The evildoer's tongue is gentlest
When with tears it pleads the noble one's grace

17. By my life, the most forbearing Master
Has forgiven all sins, every one

18. Living, preserver of sciences in an age
That but for him would have been ruined

19. Of sturdy build, a lion in fray, your
Gazes wished to look on him, though in his grip slain

20. In him the vigor of youth returned fresh
And in joy blossomed its meadows anew

21. Because it was said he came, I welcomed him
A rising moon, a pouring rain

22. For he turned every night back to day
With his care, and each barren season to spring

23. His blessed sons, rooted and branched
Taught musk its scent, though crushed and drained

24. Brothers of the full moon, tongues, and sons of meteors
Faces, their fathers the dawn's first light

25. They surpassed the bright stars in existence
And walked above them, all alone

26. Each restraining base desire by his piety
Weaned himself from caprice in infancy

27. Passionate for prohibition when just growing up
Making play equal to them, ardent youth

28. With so many weapons of fate
They wove over chastity armor

29. Scholars who unsheathed reason's blade
Leaving the misguided empty-handed

30. They remain together in religion's sanctuary
An unbreachable fortress for the faithful
