1. At dawn, they pitched camp in Wadi al-Talh with their caravan
And watered it there one evening, what watering!

2. With it, honor a valley where the beloved once lodged
Between a Rhondella and Salsola and a Fagonia

3. O valley they departed from, traveling on
By Allah, say where did the caravan go, O valley

4. Did they alight at the sanctuary or turn towards the bend
Or from you, did they depart, sworn to return

5. They left, bequeathing my body amongst them
Illness, and separation that severed my liver
