1. My heart is now serene, after long ignorance
In which I indulged in youthful passions.

2. For I set out on the right path, selling ignorance
For guidance, hoping for the best from time.

3. The son of Hajar now fears death and holds fast
To the Quran, not to the fleeting gardens.

4. His feet once stubbornly went
Towards worldly pleasures, loose-reined.

5. But after enjoying them, he renounced
And spends the long night reciting Quran,

6. Calling on God relentlessly that he might
Attain salvation in the rooms of Paradise.
