But contains nothing but poison and bitterness

17. You shake the strength of firm souls
Leaving them distraught and troubled

18. And breathe into the minds of the weak
Making them cry out loud and speechless

19. Oh love, you forgive grave sins
But make light sins a burden

20. Oh love, you spare those who walk with a cane
But destroy those who trespass

21. You take money from the wealthy
And sometimes grant treasures to the penniless

23. The young may dream in the intoxication of youth
While the old man is foolishly enamored with you

24. Brazen with no fear of encountering him
Timid when fear is wiser

25. Merciful at times though hard-hearted in you
Worthy of cruelty yet deserving of mercy

26. Most deceitful when called impartial
Most difficult when called acquiescent

27. When you wish, you embolden the coward, hasty
And insinuate fear into the heart of the bold, hesitant

28. Oh misleading love, move on!
Be unto people a torrent or hellfire

29. Move and separate a father from his son
No mother will show tenderness, no child will be loving

30. Oh love, how many tribulations you hide
Sending them raging through earth and sky!

31. Let the most wretched of people in love be
The most deserving of comfort and tranquility
