1. O you who wrongfully attacked, come forward,
I'll stab you with a sharp and strong spear.
١. أَلا أَيُّها الباغي البرازَ تَقَرَّبَن
أَساقيكَ بِالطَعنِ الغدافَ المُقَشَّبا
2. What brave man in war fears death,
When it is served to those who drink it, so serve it to me and I will drink.
٢. فَأَيُّ فَتى في الحَربِ وَالمَوتُ سيبُهُ
عَلى شارِبيهِ فَاِسقِني مِنهُ وَاِشرَبا
3. Below it are palm trees dripping
Fresh blood from within their trunks.
٣. وَدونَكها نَجلاءَ يَنضَحُ فَرعُها
نَجيعاً دَماً مِن داخِلِ الجَوفِ مُثغَبا
4. With it are quenched those who are undaunted when their cup is passed around,
When it is served by those who are stepping towards death.
٤. حَباكَ بِها مَن لا يُصَرَّدُ كَأَسُهُ
إِذا ما سَقاها مَن إِلى المَوتِ ثَوَّبا
5. A brother of deluges whose courage is not shaken
When death meets death fully armed and zealous.
٥. أَخو غَمَراتٍ لا يُرَوَّعُ جَأشهُ
إِذا المَوتُ بِالمَوتِ اِرتَدى وَتَعَصبا
6. He takes part in war wielding swords and sees
No escape from death for those who do not take part.
٦. يُباشِرُ في الحَربِ السُيوفَ وَلا يَرى
لِمَن لَم يُباشِرها مِنَ المَوتِ مَهرَبا
7. The sleeping ambitions of Maazin were awakened by his deeds
He was born to noble mothers so he begot noble deeds.
٧. أَغَرُّ نَماهُ مازِنٌ بِفِعالِهِ
وَكانَ نَجيبَ الأُمَّهاتِ فَأَنجَبا
