1. The feasts of injustice fade away,
Do not despair, oh Baghdad!

2. Yesterday oppressors tormented your people,
And free men were tested by the executioner.

3. So your free sons rose in determination,
The dens of hyenas envy them.

4. Neither the bullets of traitors nor
Imprisonment, torture, and exile could stop them.

5. Until the edifice of injustice collapsed
And the fate of corruption ended, the unjust perished.

6. The banner of Islam flew high,
And the noble and glorious bowed to dignity.

7. God is Greater was called out
After minbars by the valleys and trees.

8. The fence of the Quran cried out
As if it were a pulpit preaching and guiding.

9. Baghdad's cubs whom
Time's chest contained with which our ancestors ruled

10. And destroyed every arrogant tyrant
In whose heart dwelled injustice and hatred.

11. Baghdad, you are the protector of Islam,
Guarding it from the enemies of the dark nights.

12. You are a beauty mark on the brow of time,
With it the beauty of the high and glorious grow.

13. You are a meadow of the gardens of dignity, flowering,
Upon its branches birds sing.

14. Dawn smiles from the buds of your streams,
No soul or fragrance or flowers tremble.

15. You are an eternal citadel of truth,
Thunder and lightning do not alarm it.

16. You stand tall in history, raising
The Prophet's light for those who stray and those who deviate.

17. Your civilization spread peace across the land
And you are a mother to all people.

18. Your springs overflowed with kindness and mercy
And your spirit is guidance and righteousness.

19. Do not despair, oh Baghdad!
Tighten your bond, the edifice of injustice weakens.

20. Fortify the breaches of enemies and gather your resolve,
For us, Baghdad, the dawn is an appointed time.

21. Tomorrow the call of truth will roar again
So all horizons respond with support.

22. The noon of your glory will shine
As the filth floating on it perishes.

23. Our proof will stamp out falsehood,
Vanquished, evildoers will weep over it.

24. Our Islam does not want us to follow
The unjust when we see them lead astray.

25. God does not see our prayers established
While the corrupt and immoral rule people.

26. Millions of our nation suffer
As a few seize power entirely.

27. Judgment belongs to God alone, none shall transgress it.
Sharia takes precedence if our rulers deviate.

28. We do not accept anything instead of God's Sharia
Though the envious pretend to guide us.

29. The West continues to enslave and wrong us,
And the East is like the West, musical instruments and empty pleasures.

30. God's Sharia gives us life and happiness,
While anything else misleads and corrupts.

31. Enough of your hypocrisy, lies, and falsehood!
Through you, the religion of God and truth disavow.

32. The truth has been purified and your faces blackened
As a hunter startles a deer.

33. In the morning you have an opinion which
Contradicts the evening’s, yet you issue edicts.

34. O youth of truth! God is your aide,
Visit the enemies as your ancestors did.

35. Now is the time, fortify your resolve,
You are the protectors of the faith, descendants of forefathers.

36. Unsheathe the swords of truth, for their edge
Is the perishing of disbelief’s skulls.

37. Prepare for God’s meeting and march forth
To champion the truth – piety is the provision.

38. Our fathers protected our religion,
And our ancestors sacrificed themselves for it.

39. As their sons, we never accept
Humiliation, even if chained today.

40. Injustice can never erase our creed,
Nor will disbelief and atheism please us.

41. The end of injustice is one, oh Baghdad:
God, truth, and history bear witness!
