1. Revolt against the despicable tyrant
And protect the teachings of the Messenger

2. And seek a dignified life
Under a noble constitution

3. And rebel, for the free man refuses
To be equal to the despicable

4. And death is easier in the soul of the free man
Than the rule of the foreigner

5. O Baghdad, home of manliness
And heroism and intellect

6. O Baghdad, mother of life
And goddess of authentic glory

7. Shake the fortresses of the oppressors
Who walk in the footsteps of the Mongols

8. The autocrats, the tyrants
Who rule without principles

9. Who harbor hatred against the meanings
Of goodness and beautiful morals
