1. I am as I am
And my critic annoys me
١. أَنا فيما أَنا فيهِ
وَعَذولي يَتَعَتَّب
2. I do not listen to what is said
To please or anger him
٢. أَنا لا أُصغي لِما قا
لَ فَيَرضى أَو فَيَغضَب
3. And I have listened but
I hear the criticism and rejoice
٣. وَلَقَد أُصغي وَلَكِن
أَسمَعُ العَذلَ فَأَطرَب
4. The critic is ignorant of my affair
I play with the critic
٤. جَهِلَ العاذِلُ أَمري
أَنا بِالعاذِلِ أَلعَب
5. Oh my beloved and my boon companion
As the nights go by
٥. يا حَبيبي وَنَديمي
وَاللَيالي تَتَقَلَّب
6. Give me what we are in
And leave the critic to toil
٦. هاتِ فيما نَحنُ فيهِ
وَدَعِ العاذِلَ يَتعَب
