1. Steadfast in the covenant of my youth
I spend the night and dawn in delight
١. مُقيمٌ عَلى العَهدِ مِن صَبوَتي
أَبيتُ وَأُصبِحُ في نَشوَتي
2. The maidens desire consolation from me
But what is their consolation to my delight
٢. يَرومُ العَواذِلُ لي سَلوَةً
وَأَينَ العَواذِلُ مِن سَلوَتي
3. I have a night that was blessed with fortune
So speak what you wish of my night
٣. وَلي لَيلَةٌ طَرَقَت بِالسُعودِ
فَحَدِّث بِما شِئتَ عَن لَيلَتي
4. Nothing was better than my gathering
Nothing was nobler than my ambition
٤. فَما كانَ أَحسَنَ مِن مَجلِسي
وَما كانَ أَرفَعَ مِن هِمَّتي
5. By the sun of the morning and the full moon of nightfall
At my right hand and my left
٥. بِشَمسِ الضُحى وَبِبَدرِ الدُجى
عَلى يَمنَتي وَعَلى يَسرَتي
6. I stay overnight without any news
Of that one or of that another
٦. وَبِتُّ عَن خَبَري لاتَسَل
بِذاكَ الَّذي وَبِتِلكَ الَّتي
7. I spent it in passion a night
Having the caliph in my service
٧. فَقَضَّيتُها في الهَوى لَيلَةً
إِخالُ الخَليفَةَ في خِدمَتي
8. I will thank it forever as long as I live
Even if afterwards my yearning intensifies
٨. سَأَشكُرُها أَبَداً مابَقيتُ
وَإِن عَظُمَت بَعدَها حَسرَتي
9. Nothing was easier when it drew near
Nothing was harder when it turned away
٩. فَما كانَ أَسهَلَ إِذ أَقبَلَت
وَما كانَ أَصعَبَ إِذ وَلَّتِ
