1. He watered a valley between Al-‘Arish and Barqah
With rain pouring down in torrents

2. And moist winds greeted me as they blew by
There lies homelands, when home is mentioned

3. A land, whenever you come to it, you come to a paradise
To your eyes from it, whenever you desire, pleasure

4. Yearning makes me imagine its soil
And pebbles are musk exuding scent

5. So people of Egypt, I know
That I have no consolation from you forever

6. And in my heart there is no place but you
So from where could there be, and it is filled with longing

7. May Allah fold the misery of distance between us
So writhing hearts and heavy eyelids may find peace

8. For that day I have a fast I vowed
And with me, in the way of Sufism, thankfulness
