My status seems lowly to them and my position

2. And I blame those whom I don't name
So Lord, don't let my words reach them

3. How much sanctity and affection lies between us
How many covenants and bonds tie us

4. You deserve all this courtesy
For your knowledge, love for you, and my passion

5. I've kept my love for you though you broke your vows
So here it is, sealed for you with my seal

6. I yearn for you each day and night
And rave of you while awake and in my dreams

7. So don't deny the sweet breeze when it blows
Towards you - that sweetness carries my greetings

8. Will any messenger return to me with glad tidings
Like those of a pregnant woman told she'll bear a boy

9. And my heart rests easy in Upper Egypt and its people
Where I once lived and had a place

10. And I love the Nile's roses most of all
Because it flows past people who honor me
