1. They said poetry is dead, but I said:
No, its light lives on though its beasts have died.
١. قالوا لقدْ كسدَ القريضُ فقلتُ بلْ
عاشتْ ضراغمُهُ وماتَ ضباعُهُ
2. Now its sound is welcome, its greed lies broken,
Its craft grows stronger, no longer one-sided.
٢. الآنَ طابَ سماعُهُ وتقطَّعَتْ
أطماعُهُ وتعزَّزتْ صنّاعُهُ
