1. I stole a glance from her, so she smiled

١. سرقْتُ منها نظرةً فاستضحكتْ
واستترتْ عني وسدَّتْ طاقَها
2. So I stole a second glance
And she let down her veil before it
٢. فرمْتُ منها نظرةً ثانيةً
فأسبَلَتْ مِنْ دونِها رواقَها
3. How can her ankles bear her anklets
When a gazer's glance wounds her ankles
٣. كيفَ يطيقُ ساقُها خلخالَها
ونظرةُ الناظرِ تدمي ساقَها
4. O Hind I have a soul occupied with you
Its way to your love led by her ankles
٤. يا هندُ لي نفسٌ بكم مشغولةٌ
سياقُها إلى هواكم ساقَها
5. He who compares you to Balqis says
A commander, forbidding her lovers
٥. يقولُ مَنْ يقيسُ بلقيسَ بها
آمرةٌ ناهيةٌ عشَّاقَها
6. I found a woman who commands them
And was granted perfection in all her qualities
٦. إني وجدتُ امرأةً تملكُهُمْ
وأُوتيَتْ منْ كلِّ شيءٍ راقَها
7. If the leaf knew her cheek's beauty
It would shred itself in rapture
٧. لو تعلمُ الوُرْقُ بحسنِ جيدِها
لمزَّقتْ منْ طربٍ أطواقَها
8. If my critic tasted her saliva
He would stop blaming me and taste it
٨. ولو يذوقُ عاذلي ريقتَها
صبا معي لكنَّهُ ما ذاقَها
