1. Tell those who boast of ancestry
Boasting of knowledge and wisdom is best

2. If my worth has surpassed my father's
By your claim, it shows my resolve

3. O mercy of the Merciful, my mother and father
By Allah, my father was not my mother

4. I have lineage to the truthful one
A connection known like the stars

5. I prepared it for the Gathering as provision, not
To boast over my opponent

6. O second of the Chosen One in his cave
And his blessed grave and in wisdom

7. Do not deprive me of glances, so my
Evil enemies may hate my name

8. My sin to them is that I am a scholar
And a knight in prose and verse

9. And my fame spreads
While theirs is obscurer than fantasy

10. Of all who know my merit, and God
Has led astray despite knowledge
