1. The wilderness sees both dew and flowers
Its feathers ruffled, it's edge made sharp by the sword

١. تَرى البَرِيَّةَ في حالَيْ نَدى ورَدى
يَريشُها وبِحَدِّ السَّيْفِ يَبْريها

2. One group's daybreak is lit by their deaths
While another's hopes have proven true

٢. فَفِرقَةٌ بِمَناياها مصبّحة
وفرقة صَدَقَتْ فيها أَمانِيها

3. As if time in our hopes arrays them
Among the people, and in their lifespans folds them

٣. كَأَنَّهُ الدَّهْرُ في الآَمالِ يَنْشُرُها
بَيْنَ العِبادِ وفي الأَعْمارِ يَطْويها

4. When the swords bare themselves, wrath takes him
For he clothes them in the spirits of lions

٤. إِذا الصَّوارم عَرَّتْهنَّ غَضْبَتُهُ
فإِنَّهُ بِنُفوسِ الأُسْدِ كاسيها

5. Laughter takes him amidst the trembling on the feared day
And with blood from the blow, weeping takes him

٥. يَظَلُّ بِالهَزِّ يَوْمَ الرَّوْعِ يُضْحِكُها
وبِالدِّماءِ مِنَ الهاماتِ يُبْكيها

6. Until the eyelids of the pagan hosts
Have shed their covers and lent them their pains

٦. حتَّى كَأَنَّ جُفونَ المُشْرِكينَ حَلَّتْ
طَيّاتُها وأَعارَتْها مآَقيها
