1. She sings gleefully from atop the sand dunes
Continuing the rhyme with trill upon trill

2. Her palms dyed red, she does not cease wailing
Echoing a voice of such profound grief

3. That she ignited a fire of sorrow and spent the night
Resting her eyelids swollen with tears

4. It was as though she thought the fire was the fire of those
In the trench, though more tormented were the people of the trench

5. Oh guide of the camel herd, go gently for they are camels
Accompanying the little ones with bleating cry

6. Oh nights of mine that brought me joy
Return with what pleasure you held, return

7. Our days when the tavern was our drink
Dewdrops and grape juice were our water

8. And company was gathered, time favoring us
Bestowing sincerity upon us

9. Swaying us amidst the moons of dusk in rapture
To the tune’s melody or the lute’s ring

10. From every rosy-cheeked gazelle’s coquetry
Resembling the gazelle in glance and neck

11. Our minstrel sang in praise of Sulaiman
Crowned lord of mankind and generosity

12. Who built a home which will last as long as
Days continue, modeling himself on the act of building

13. Oh you, brave knight, seeker of glory, you who
Inherit glory from your forefathers, the hunters

14. Take from the haze of nights what you have chosen, for
Today collars of pearls have been cast to you

15. A home built with earnings of praise, its pillars
Of renown, not brick and stone

16. Rejoice in this wedding, for a wedding is a blessing
So partake of it, limitlessly so

17. And look upon the wearer of anklets with a loving
Gaze, o heavy-hearted and devoted one

18. She came to you from a grove of fine growth
Fruits and crops and soft sands between

19. She came and her rising star was one of fortune
Blessed, auspicious and blest again

20. Until she settled in this abode by
A crowned king noble in his charity

21. When she saw you enthroned
At a scene evidencing the glory of kingship

22. You were newly come into youth, she saw
Locks flowing like tendrils from you

23. In your right hand the knot of kingship tied
By God's will, a marvelous creation

24. She said, "Is this Solomon, scion of
Al-Mansur or is this Solomon son of David?"

25. And she magnified you, saying far from it!
What creature of creation is this counted as human?

26. She swore without doubt that this is a king
Aided by the Creator in victory and support

27. Gaze upon her with a glance not of
An ascetic or one detached towards her

28. Delight in her and in the honor you possess
And majesty, success and preparation

29. You are unique, singular in this age, none other
Resembles you or can resemble you

30. Not every polished sword is Dhulfiqar
Nor is the fire of Musa like the fire of Nimrod
