1. I dreamed, but did not know if I was dreaming or awake
Was it my soul or just illusions of dreams?

2. I could not interpret it from my experiences
Nor from my supplications to stars and planets

3. I dreamed I was in the depths of a forest
With dangers behind, above, and before me

4. Hoping that everything I tread upon
Would not be thorns or claws of wild beasts

5. Around me was only a defiant vegetation
Echoing the roars of beasts to my imaginations

6. And fantasies and specters of hell
Whispering until my steps faltered

7. An oppressive atmosphere engulfed me
Trying to suffocate me in its evil spheres

8. My blood dripped from the prickly thorns
As my fear, despair and hesitation held me back

9. Hordes of monkeys screamed
Competing with the winds in tormenting me

10. In my desperation, I was surprised
By a flash of light dispelling all my darkness

11. Perhaps my master Sharbel, my guide
Making my surroundings, body and thoughts pleasant

12. I imagined him walking ahead of me blessing me
Verses sprouting from his divine turban

13. I found myself in a forest no longer frightening
Sparkling with light and scent for the weary

14. Where dancing angels sing
And in every corner, inspirations for minds

15. Its myriad mysteries imbued
With the echoes of grass and thickets

16. In it beauty and poetry frolic
And the spring was a symphony of melodies

17. The tenderness of the place revived my soul
And nurtured my aspirations like orphans

18. I said: My master Sharbel, my savior
Thanks, my days are in your hands

19. Can you show guidance to my erring nation
And save it from its miserable and oppressive plight

20. I prefer this to remaining safe
While my family, homeland suffer harm and death

21. He said: It is forbidden for someone like you
To be wronged and lost amidst landmines

22. As for the lands worshipping the golden calf
He will kick them repeatedly with force

23. And let them revel in deceit
Until they live like cattle

24. I do not have the capacity, though my Lord's justice reaches the highest heavens
To raise them one day to His sublime Throne
