2. And he went on to give examples
Of the ingratitude of time towards benefactors

3. Of the one with refined and lofty literature
Whose fate from the ingratitude of time is as it desires

4. Not only did he have troubles with wife and child
Until he saw people's outright ingratitude

5. Why the anguish when life's calamities
Are unending and yesterday's echoes repeat

6. Let your endurance be revenge for its tyranny
And mock it when it makes the noblest suffer

7. We came to the universe as atoms from the beginning
And we'll never leave it as ghosts or lights

8. And no one knows our essence
Even if one probes its past

9. And if we know we only know some imaginations
As if the sea is but the echoes we hear

10. They are not just letters' dots we cannot comprehend
A poem that visited us today virtuously

11. Nor are the tragedies that made our tears flow
From its fire, the universe will have more wreckage

12. It equalized genesis and destruction in its theaters
As you know, and equalized misery and bliss

13. And I never complained about my condition but went along
To pass through the living and dead for art's sake

14. Explain it to me, oh literary man, the burning life
Of the obscure consumed by life's passions

15. We live like fiery gods
And are satiated when the fire is extinguished
