1. God is melodies and lights in love
And God is flowers and hymns in peace

2. Greetings, O peace, on this your master’s day
Let war be ashamed and magnolias be honored

3. And let the suffering world rejoice over folly
For the gentle breezes have risen above the clamor

4. I smell fragrances I cannot identify
But the soul can identify them through intuition

5. So where is their spiritual source that fills me?
For neither eye nor ear can grasp it

6. Perhaps in the blessed mosque there is a reminder
For there the blessed mosque is illuminated

7. From one who placed the most glorious for his nation’s righteousness
And so the noble keep company with the noble

8. The land of Iqbal did not miss philosophy
That extols peace and did not suffer harm

9. Peace itself is Islam from the beginning
As the venerable forefathers saw it

10. And nothing is more fitting as a symbol in its message
Than a mosque lit up by faith’s lights

11. On an avenue where nations contributed to its celebration
And were blessed, so the dark places became radiant

12. What ails Egypt to forget its sapling?
In Egypt’s soil the gardens are fertile

13. As if the light of Christ never walked its land
Yet His light walks the whole earth

14. As if the Virgin Mary never dwelt
In its land, as if the land was barren

15. And where is the shade that Jordan was granted?
In its orchards the cuckoos sing

16. And where is my Jerusalem whose land
Shone with hopes, and now with mirages?

17. Would that I now had Al-Mutanabbi’s fervor
To shake deaf ears for the truth

18. So I may let my wary people know
That Arabism, like Islam, is brilliant

19. That tolerance is the finest quality
And anything else is an enemy of Islam

22. And if tender emotions and chastity
Have faded from our sentiments

23. Rejoice, O Flag, as long as you have called out
As the sleepless called out and nobles answered

24. And free us from overwhelming sorrows
As we were freed by our forefathers from tyranny
