Reputation, glory and wealth became trivial to me

You were a house and platform of advocacy for me

5. As you were a guiding light, dawn shone at daybreak
Eight years or more we've known, as if from a thousand nights drawn

6. Marvels of civilization surpassed legends deemed jest
Those asleep, impatient that you robbed their slumber

7. Your light unlike your knowledge does not fade or grow dim
But I sensed in you my bliss and bid you no farewell

8. As if I'm your own, you rained love and renewed my zeal
Not just the misguided resent you for your grace or gift

9. But those who knew my dignity for your beauty or charm
Teacher of the free, how they stand so tall

10. Making their dreams whatever comes true or right
Parting from you disturbs me as if I'm not going

11. To paradise but exile, no cheer or delight
If I live in comfort I remain a pilgrim to you

12. Arming my joyous soul with faith and delight
I'm accustomed to praising visitors plainly

13. But for you I weighed praise and saw you were bright
I listened until my feelings seemed to reside in it

14. Or it became my elquent verse for you I recite
It embodied ardent love and wishes poured forth

15. Flooding in tears or gushing from me like a wound
You may leave cities not to avoid but as fate dictates

16. Fortune is like chaos where from violence, peace is born
Leaving is admitting defeat after your triumph

17. And crowning victory was decisively borne
Will days of our bliss return, even glimpses I greet?

18. Or is it wished for in vain, never to be worn
Then I care not for distances that estranged us

19. Or time that advised me, I'm not to be torn
I will sacrifice worry, slaughter it sans regret

20. And end it as I should, with no thought forlorn
O haven of the free from every clan

21. Rise boundless, your struggle never outworn
Farewell not to the citadel you built

22. But the spirit in you beyond structure borne
If my confusion ejected me from your grace
