1. Cut it down and cast away one who invited it
Indeed, we are satisfied with its harm

About its paradise, evil is what its paradise yields

Yet killed the era in endless tyranny

4. I said, if only it revived the wisdom
That yesterday enlivened reform and guided it

5. Rather, it revived evils of the past
They adorned it that they may worship it as a god

6. They deceived us for an epoch and trivialized
Misguiding the people into humiliation and error

7. How much did we sing with sincere love
Only to see, from those who boasted, folly

8. And we wasted much pure inclination
That was once noble, yet turned to ignorance

9. The people's authority is the mother
That nurtured the free, none else but it
