1. Take me up to your skies so that
I see nothing in existence but beauty

2. My isolation has wearied a lifetime
Despite my youthful creativity and imagination

3. And I saw in your skies a God
Full of love, bounty and blessings abounding

4. So I clung to the rays around
And called out my hopes around you

5. The earth that loved me so much forgave me
When it saw me intoxicated and self-important

6. It forgave my distraction to you because
In you I had faith in God most high

7. Lost is he who sees life without love
A life and sets examples

8. So the outcome of extreme asceticism
Is the perfection of allure, now and forever

9. Neither worldly restrictions nor custom avails
If love refuses or wants the impossible

10. If the years raise me up I
Like the prophets, ever rise up

11. I am like the universe - unblemished
By the passage of time however many generations may grow old

12. What art will I now create after
Reaching your magnificent presence?

13. Time told me you will accomplish wonders
So be patient and you will live as an ideal

14. You will give the world that which you give
Making real what seemed impossible

15. I am your ideal singer who
Sketches out his melodies though called precious

16. My poetry rests and my painting rests and I do not
Comprehend the meaning of the idols I loved

17. That is my art in your shining shadow
It will grow and its glory continue

18. And when I die I will live mocking
Death and inspiring generations
