1. The breeze of morning inspired in the ear of rebuke
Marvels unmatched by any embellishment

2. Its beautiful meaning and eloquent expression contend
Like necklaces of pearls adorned with moonlight

3. It shone upon me a flash of attained knowledge
None but the ultimate can perceive its heights

4. Yet I am not one whose life's concern
Is empty approval, no matter how loftily it's exalted

5. A nature of soul, may God protect its making
The sincere see it as sincerity's end

6. It has the brightest glow upon time's brow
Encompassed by the light of radiance and brilliance

7. Its wanderings enthralled by its gentleness
Accustomed only to the eloquent and articulate

8. By it the branch of poetry is refreshed with vitality
And by it the heart that loves is guided aright

9. Greetings to the heart of the sincere friend and a breeze
That makes fragrant by his sighs what it laments

10. If touched by any fleeting harm, it does not wound him
Its utterance protected him from and purified him of blight

11. It rose in the sanctuary of the two luminaries
And from the rays of knowledge formed what dazzled rebuke

12. So praise be to knowledge, by which it elevated
Minds yesterday confused into clear insight

13. Its food the pure water of knowledge from its light's outpouring
Far from its starry brow the tainted and impure

14. From my nights it carefully chose the loftiest jewels
Peerless pearls that do not break or fade away

15. A gift of a heart to one who long
Celebrated it in verse, singing its praises
