1. Your spring is basil, roses, and narcissus
And your face is a morning dawn breathing

Along whose banks beauty is planted

3. And your mouth is a pearl and pearls are plentiful
But it is that which cannot be sold or worn

4. And your stature is a branch that morning does not bend
Rather it sways gently on its own

5. Our souls had a gentle, comforting meeting
In the unseen before we met

6. So when we met unplanned
You greeted with a welcome that delighted the soul

7. I glanced at you furtively with a dangling eye
Oh the torment of the eye when it glances fleetingly

8. Oh the torment of the heart from the agony of love
When it remains fearful and suspicious

9. The most sacred is the status of love in every place
No good is in a heart that does not sanctify it

10. Through it people learned generosity and sacrifice
And the excellence of praise from its abundance gushes forth

11. So when we drank from the spring of the Euphrates
We studied the signs of eloquence

12. It is love, the elixir of life, so do not despair
For our souls breathe from its breath
