1. If the hand of fate shattered my lute,
The echo of the melody lingers on in my strings.

2. Desire repeats it in my hearing,
Despite the harshness and the home far away.

3. I do not hide from the maiden that her beauty
Inspired the spark of the hidden talent in me,

4. And that the signs of goodness made me inspired
Signs of poetry for every meaning that was good.

5. I was never a poet before love
Until her compelling glance wounded me.

6. So it flowed gently caressing a rose
That blossomed on the cheek of a veiled one.

7. And love translates beautiful poems
That quench thirst, and how much love has traces!

8. I love beauty, so if attaining it is difficult
I immortalize it in masterpieces of poetry.

9. So for how long, oh beauty, do you toy with love
and its sanctity and dignity?

10. Your composure deceived me, so I thought
I could secretly attain my hopes.

11. What is it to you if I attain my wishes?
For people are my people and home is my home,

12. And if I drink the pure nectar of my love,
The cup is my cup and the wine is my wine.

13. I will remain singing here
and there despite the twists of fate.

14. I sing to the people of love an immortal melody
And revolt against injustice like a storm.

15. I am for Arabism wherever I find a brother
Who strives for its glory with pride.

16. O people of valor, your time has come, so take on
the burden and cast off the garment of shame.

17. I present myself, for in determination lies the honor of the nation.
Victory is for the revolutionaries, for the free.

18. Do you think cowardice uplifts a nation
Or that it will increase its life?

19. Or that the religion of Muhammad is content
with humiliation or domination by infidels?

20. No, my brother, jihad is an obligation,
so for how long in truth will we waver?

21. How can a free soul, Arab in ancestry and kinship,
be disgraced by intruders?

22. And Jerusalem cries out, "Where is my savior
from the oppression of the wicked?"

23. "Where is one who will wipe the tears
of widows crying, their tears flowing down their cheeks like pearls,

24. Lamenting without one of chivalry to wipe their tears
Or take pity on their little ones?"

25. I complain though life is short if injustice of tyrants befalls me
And supporters are few.

26. Where is the righteousness of our leaders?
Where is the leader to take vengeance for us?

27. And our armies were born with instincts to destroy
A nation of Arabs and Nizar.

28. And against the enemy is our coldness and peace,
Though fire is no longer fire.

29. Why do we seek peace while others
Refuse it arrogantly?

30. I grieve for the two hundred million
Who lost their honor and pride.

31. You fear annihilation yet each passing day
Brings a thousand calamities and havoc,

32. You fear annihilation, yet each passing day
Brings a thousand tribulations and destruction.

33. The little ones despaired of the elders, and there remains
No helper for them but rocks.

34. So they armed themselves with pebbles and pursued
The soldiers of the usurping betrayer.

35. His tyranny did not prevent them from their right,
Were it not for power, the tyrant would be laid low.

36. So peace and praise be upon the little ones
Whose flowers are ever fresh with dew.
