1. Congratulations on a fast with no equal in acceptance,
And good tidings of an Eid in which you are given drink.

2. I congratulate you on might and happiness
As years and seasons continue one after another.

3. May Allah water a lifetime in which you are humanity’s eye,
And no quarter turns against the carried burdens.

4. For your era, what’s between nights are seasons
That have treasures, splendor, and revelations.

5. Your hoped for side is open to generosity,
Where the known and unknown throng.

6. May you, even if time is miserly to its intimates,
Inscribe hopes - none but you makes them come to fruition.

7. Save me, for time is not peaceful with me
If I don’t have in your rope a place of rest.

8. Give me the best outcome in what I hope for,
For the like of you enriches the hopeful and gives drink.

9. By God, I never intended to roam from my heart,
Nor am I discontent with life - it is plentiful.

10. I have no desire to leave this house, it is
A shade over people in this world, comforting.

11. Rather, the loved ones have distanced themselves from me,
Their affairs have necessitated a long separation.

12. Yearning stirs in me - I am departing
And my heart settles wherever they settle.

13. Precious to them is what I have faced
And my estrangement in the lands prolongs.

14. As if I vanished or was snatched away,
The lands hid my news.

15. I remembered you, O delight of loved ones and passion!
So sorrow and wailing darted into my heart.

16. I fell in love with the place of your dwelling, as though
It embodies for me intimate visitation.

17. Our loved ones - and the pact between me and you
Is noble, and the pact of the noble does not change.

18. If my tears did not please the burdens,
Then no burdens have brought me near to meeting.

19. Why do I stay where desires are not fulfilled
And the leads are not submissive?

20. I struggle through the remainder of life day and night
While morning between them is miserable.

21. What comes over me is between despair and hope -
Time is miserly in fulfilling wishes.

22. Deceiving hopes prevent me from it
And continuous sorrows console me.

23. Will there be no night whose afflictions return,
And continuous sorrows console me?

24. Every event frightens me with its changes,
The mountains themselves almost crumble.

25. I counter malice, though with no doubt
It makes peace and then breaches it.

26. I rise in the morning, sick as if
My soul vents sighs and anguish.

27. Even if I spend mornings in a foreign land,
The nights divert my solace and leanings.

28. Days have barred me from the best residence,
One I thought would never reject a guest.

29. I know good and evil will end their courses
And that Allah will eventually judge.

30. I am dear to the son of Ma'saya even if
Partisans are disgraced and the friend leaves.
