1. His mouth and reproach are halal upon me,
Forbidden is what has been under his orbit,
١. عليَّ حلالٌ ثغرُه وعِذارُه
حرامٌ بما قد كان تحتَ نِطاقِهِ
2. My heart competes with birds in its steps
Towards him, even if in his bond and shackles.
٢. فؤادي يُباري الطيرَ في خَطواتِه
إليه ولو في قيده ووثاقِه
