And narrates what the non-Arabs did to the Arabs

7. He circles about as the night’s azure hue
With burdened stars heavily trod

8. Secure, no calamities can reach him
His envious rivals harbor sorrow and distress

9. His eloquence displays to us gentle coherence
Scarcely an hour passes without a sip

10. The gentle zephyr has bound his tongue
Sweet as honeydew are his words

11. He gestures with his hands, wanting to bid us farewell
His tears a flood, his eyelids clouds

12. Chaste, he never sought vice in his time
He drew near us only when love insisted

13. We rose for farewells, his tears
Precious pearls, the zebra’s tears increased the pour

14. We stood as dawn’s swords gleamed
Over the night, the Pleiades swallowing the west

15. For separation there are swords of bereavement brandished
The neighing and howling appears through their clamor

16. She strode forth boldly, with excellent pace
Moving urgently through her crisis

To a king whom the noble chiefs revere

19. The dull rocks are cloven by the edge of his sword
Never inactive in his grip is the bright blade

20. A young man who spares the thousands in peace
Yet his goal in battle is to thrust and strike

21. He is clad in armor for fierce struggle, inspiring awe
With it the fire of war is kindled and will not wane

22. About him circle grim regiments, frowning
Dragging the trains of their coats of mail and never bending

23. The destriers are satisfied with just the snorting of their charge
As for the stalwart steeds, they are its fodder

24. In their lead they see symbols of victory
Gleaming from his battles and plunder

25. The light of his brow reflects sunlight
When night obscures him with darkness and war

26. His comforts are clouds that shed their tears
As continuous rain on the people, ceasing never

27. Perplexity never seizes him in any state
Haughtiness never clings to his edges

28. My tongue is lengthy in eulogizing him
As lengthy as the blow of his sharp blade
