1. Your brother whose covenant time does not annul
Nor do the turns of time make him swerve
١. أَخوكَ الَّذي لا يَنقُضُ الدَهرَ عَهدَهُ
وَلا عَن صُروفِ الدَهرِ يَزوَرُّ جانِبُه
2. Not he who meets you with cheer and favor
And if you are absent, his fingertips follow after you
٢. وَلَيسَ الَّذي يَلقاكَ بِالبِشرِ وَالرِضى
وَإِن غِبتَ عَنهُ تابَعَتكَ عَقارِبُه
3. So take from your brother, pardon, and forgive his sins
And be not in all affairs accusing him
٣. فَخُذ مِن أَخيكَ العَفو وَاَغفِر ذُنوبَهُ
وَلا تَكُ في كُلِ الأُمورِ تُحاسِبُه
