1. O moon-faced one, cheek of the night's darkness
Cloaked in branch's mantle, graceful gazelle
١. يَا وَاضِحَ البَدْرِ وَصُدْغَ الدُّجَى
وَمَعْطِفَ الغُصْنِ وَجِيدَ الغَزَالْ
2. You let down your hair, I said when we were alone
And robbed my eyelids of sleep through the long nights
٢. أرْخَيْتَ شَعْراً قُلْتُ إذْ خِلْتُهُ
وَاسُهْدَ جَفْنِي فِي اللَّيَالِي الطِّوَالْ
3. You who truly dwell in al-Suwayda, why then
Did you say there are no men left in al-Suwayda?
٣. وَأنْتَ حَقًّا فِي السُّوَيْدَا فَلِمْ
قُلْتَ اكْفُفُواَ ما في السُّوَيْدَا رِجَالْ
