1. Allah is greatest, sufficient for the servant is his Master
What we have heard we have witnessed

2. This shrine in which the beloved is laid to rest
Is graced with a more beloved one laid to rest within

3. This shrine which contains the greatest one
Is made greater by the one it contains

4. This shrine around which existence revolves
Is it not where He whom his Master has purified lies?

5. This is Muhammad, the praised one, whose
Deeds, meanings, and names have been praised

6. This is Abu al-Qasim, the Chosen One, the best youth
None has reached his lofty station among creation

7. This is the beloved messenger, the Chosen One, graced with nobility
He whom Allah created from light and perfected

8. This is the intercessor, the distinguisher, ennobled with glory
The best of creation, the pinnacle of creation, its origin

9. This is the son of Adam, of clay, and his father
Of light; thus understand the secret of his meaning

10. He who calmed the flood when it raged
Until the ark of Noah floated atop its torrents

11. He by whom Allah saved the Friend when
He was tested by the fire of Nimrod on his day of trial

12. He for whom Ismail's Maker forgave him
And spared him for his sake, sheltering him

13. He who guided us with the true word
Until we knew what we had been ignorant of

14. He who made the idols prostrate and strengthened
The upright religion, fortifying its pillars

15. He who established the straight path of religion that
He may guide those whose efforts had gone astray

16. He whom the angels altogether believed in
And the prophets altogether in prayer

17. He who pierced the seven heavens
Until when at the Lote Tree, near the Garden, he communed

18. He from whom Allah lifted the veil
Until he saw the Real, there is no god but He

19. He who never strode but that a cloud shaded him
And protected him from the sun's heat

20. He beside whom pebbles glorified at his rest
Even as the flood surged around him

21. He who said to the newborn “Relate my condition,”
and he said “You are the one whom Allah has sent”

22. He who satiated the great army with a saa
And quenched their thirst from his handful of water

23. He who made the salty water fresh and sweet by spitting in it
What fine purity his Lord graced him with!

24. He who cured the blind with his breath
And how many seers were blinded by obstinacy!

25. He who turned back the tree branch into a sword in his grip
With which he challenged the wrongdoers' blades

26. He from whose blessed fingers the water burst forth
Flooding on until it overflowed its course

27. He whose dwelling was honored within the celestial realm
He whose mention was beautified in every mouth

28. He, the unique, peerless essence in whom
Every kind of meaning has been encompassed

29. Spare me talk of what the polytheists claim, and say
There is none superior to him in his Lord's view

30. His Lord ennobled him in the Remembrance and Gospel
And in the Psalms and Torah lauded him

31. He surpassed all creation in justice and knowledge
So how can he be turned from his Master and God?

32. He whom Gabriel's essence bore and deposited in him
Knowledge and forbearance, so lofty, so lofty!

33. He who, if his heart slept an instant
God would watch over him and God's eye observe him

34. He who returned the sun at daybreak and halted it
For the caravan and son-in-law where revelation enveloped him

35. He whose command Gharath did not deny
Rather, concerning it the Merciful revealed a verse

36. In the sun's courting of the mountains themselves
Of gold for him, guarding his loftiness

37. O how many times the world smiled at him amorously
Yet he did not incline to it - by God did he incline!

38. Of lofty ambition no soul of high resolve possesses
To a rank none has attained but God

39. He meets war happily, smiling, not bothered
If the clouds of death rain their shooting stars upon him

40. He seizes lives and saves the lion on the day of battle
And the day of generosity with his right hand and left

41. The lion growls, seized by fear within him
While the clouds laugh at the inadequacy of their downpour

42. He shoots arrows of generosity from the bow of nobility
Never missing his aims

43. Goodness thrives in Taybah where he dwells
There is security, generosity, and glory

44. What is musk, what is dew in the coolness of his mantle?
What is the moon, what is the sun in the brightness of his smile?

45. What is glory, what generosity but what he embodied? Is the
Pride of creation and beauty of the cosmos but him?

46. He is the beloved who has attained perfection, so if
You imagined a meaning that surpassed it

47. Were it not for him, the world and all in it would not have been created
Nor the Gardens, nor the Fires but for him

48. The open-handed who never turns away a beggar
The sheltering neighbor whom no enemies fear

49. The victor in the race-course of glorious deeds
Before which the eagle of loftiness would tire and fail

50. How many pleading from his generosity gained their want
His right hand and left never accompanied his generosity

51. How many lids at dawn his bounty awakened
As his gifts filled our eyes again at night!

52. He, a lion leading the battle-hardened lions in patience
When calamity stirred their dens

53. If the lines of battle form, terror walks before him
And victory accompanies him and openings run before him

54. Or polar star of war, gracious while smiling
Or horizon of bounty, he gives while content

55. Thus at Badr how many teary eyes his blades made weep
When the gallant knight met them!

56. Yes, and at Uhud, how he defended when
The blender churned and boiled when it was agitated

57. He stripped the ignorance of Abu Jahl with his unawareness
Which had deemed Utbah its recruits

58. And suckled the breast of her misery to al-Walid
As decrepitude crept into her veins

59. And clothed her in the garb of his harm upon their dead
And brought downfall upon Uqbah in his tracks

60. Their enemies' faces paled when he opposed them
With an Indian scimitar blow or pelting pebbles

61. To defend truth the angels came to his aid
When the executioner weakened and the wind of defeat blew them away

62. I bear witness the sword of religion was victorious
No idolater power stood on column or high place

63. It cuts through the stormy, rainy night of battle, it flashes like
Lightning, how many hearts has it cloven then toppled!

64. It seizes lifelines and rescues the lion on the day of trial
And the day of generosity with its right and left

65. They are a group the Merciful revealed His light upon
So how can their condition be concealed in darkness?

66. They are the elite of the lineage of the stalwart tribe
Who accept none but what would please Him

67. They excelled in accompanying the best of creation, embodying
Before others the distinction of being his brethren

68. May Allah ennoble them through the Chosen One graciously
And privilege them, so they were his intimates

69. One such as the Shaykh of Piety, the Truthful, in glory
After the prophets as far as we have transmitted

70. Or one like the star of guidance, the Distinguisher, whose
Words in what we have read split truth

71. Or such as Uthman of the two lights, who was
Molded with forbearance, contentment, and patience

72. Or the battle-lion, the maiden's husband, whom the best of creation
Named his regent and brother

73. Or the rest of them - discourse in mention of them
Yields acceptance and desires what it yields

74. Or the likes of his uncle, or his clan
Or the likes of his grandsons, my Master's moon

75. Or the likes of his wives who prided themselves
Over all women in being his consorts

76. Or the likes of his companions and successors, never
Did the people have likes or matches

77. No eloquent one can describe their essence
Even if he undertook the attempt, it would exhaust him

78. O distracted eyes that seek one to take refuge in
And rub your cheeks upon the ground seeking

79. To attain wishes and kiss the dust of his walkway
And cleanse your heart of the filth of sins through

80. Tears from your eyes, and purify it through reverence
And cling to the Firmest Handhold so you may

81. Protect yourself from desire's evil and dread its specter
Take refuge in him, yearn for your Master through his eminence

82. And knock upon the doors of hope with your hands praying
Ask through him, to attain what you have become desirous of

83. And repel through him the oppression you have come to dread
He is the intercessor when the prophets bow down

84. And all are preoccupied with their state of deliverance
Creation will come to him seeking intercession

85. From the specter of the halt that has exhausted them
He will come and prostrate beneath the Throne praying

86. Beseeching his Lord for mercy and deliverance
Then the Real will call “O Muhammad, arise

87. And ascend the station none have attained but you
You are the beloved, so speak and you will be heard, and ask and you will receive

88. Intercede and you will intercede, and what you find good, We will”
He is the pillar I prepared this eulogy for

89. The day I fear and hope for what I fear and hope for
He is the generous one I have set my course for

90. For all I desire and love from him
It is unthinkable that he would deprive the praiser of their hope

91. Or reject praise - God forbid such a thought of him!
What might a praiser attain in praising you when

92. The best of creation has fallen short in praising you?
Yet I have been so bold in my praises of your loftiness upon

93. The tables of generosity and bounty, O most generous
So do not disappoint my praises and enrich me with the wealth

94. Of one whose worldly life and afterlife have enriched him
For you are more generous than one who rewards

95. And more generous than one who fulfills and more generous than one whose gifts have encompassed
O Lord of Majesty, O Lord of Bounty, one whose desire

96. Misled him and misguidance seduced
O Lord of Majesty, O Lord of Bounty, one whose ear

97. Turned not once to the voice of good
O Lord of Majesty, O Lord of Bounty, one whose eye

98. Turned not to the testaments of truth
I am the lowly one, neglected by helpers

99. I am the ailing one, exhausted by maladies
I am the abased one, deprived of wants

100. I am the ignorant one, whose steeds have strayed
I am the outcast whom my companion has abandoned

101. I am the unique one whom enemies have misled
I am the poor one wealth has betrayed

102. I am the despised whom afflictions have encompassed
I am the hypocrite of ugly conduct

103. I am the sinner burdened by my nature
I have no excuse but that I am a wrongdoer who thinks well

104. Of Him who hopes for none but Him
He erases sins, has mercy upon me at death

105. And graces me with beauty in the Hereafter
O Lord, protect the glory of Islam where its banners flutter

106. And its sun rises radiant on the horizon
Support the religion through the eminent lord Abu

107. Amr the King and steady its pillars through him
Give him victory, mighty victory O Mighty One, and do not

108. Abandon him for a blink, elevate his station
Bolster him, grant him openings, O Opener, and be

109. A helper against what the servant dreads
Make him the axis of Islam, protect through him

110. The bastions of the kingdom, and rout the armies of his enemies
Subdue through him every defiant tyrant

111. And have mercy through him on every soul who hopes in You
Forgive him, grant him Your approval in the Hereafter

112. And rectify for him the state of his life and afterlife
Save Your servant al-Masud from the family of Saad

113. Whom You have brought joy to the capital through
Be gentle with him, drape the beautiful veil over

114. His shoulders, and illuminate my path to him
Give him success, through him bring joy to creation, protect for him

115. The guardianship of the throne, O You who has no gods but Him
Save him from envious enemies, observe his domain

116. With Your eye of mercy, and gladden us with seeing him
Protect his children, family, and brothers

117. From the scheming of those whose hatred has kindled a blaze
O Most Merciful to those who transgress unwittingly

118. You pardon those whose knowledge did not prevent their passions
O Most Merciful to those who drown, whom swimming

119. Did not save from being engulfed by the depths
O Most Merciful to the abased whom remedies have exhausted

120. And physicians have abandoned to their afflictions
So grant favor, ordain, and bestow upon the Caliph satisfaction

121. That will enrapture him and show him that which he desires
Accept his eulogies, recompense his gifts bountifully

122. And have mercy upon his humility and forgive his sins
Show gentleness to his elders and parents and ancestors

123. With what pleases You, O Lord, for the Muslims
And send blessings upon the Chosen One from Mudar

124. As long as the rain drizzles upon the myrrh's branch
And let the clouds of approval pour upon his family graciously

125. And companions so long as the dawn shows its lights
