Why did you oppose me, O sun of the day?
١. طَلبْتُ الشَّمْسَ لاَ زُهْرَ الدَّرَارِي
فَلِمْ خالَفْتَ يا شَمْسَ النَّهَارِ
2. Why did you exchange dust for mud
And replace carnations with spices?
٢. وَلِمْ عَوَّضْتَ منْ تِبْرٍ لُجَيْنًا
وَأبْدَلْتَ القَرَنْفُلَ بِالْبَهَارِ
