1. Many a branch I have swayed to caress its bending,
And many a gazelle I have flirted with to charm its glance,
2. And many a morning I have unveiled its veil,
And many an eve I have let down its loosened hair,
3. And a boon companion I have ransomed with one better,
And many a brimming cup I have given the sweetest of its draught,
4. And a singing voice I have captured with the most melodious chant,
In gardens I have breathed the fragrances of their blossoms,
5. And with my soul I have made the lips accustomed to passion,
The branch would be ashamed before the litheness of its bending,
6. A perfect moon I witnessed in its glamor,
Beyond words to describe the fluttering of its glance.
