1. Delay your gaze, behold my beauty and joy,
My radiance will please your sight.
١. أجِلْ نَظَرَا فِي حُسْنِ ذَاتِي وَبَهْجَتِي
يَرُوقُكَ مَا تُهْدِيهِ لِلْعَيْنِ جِلْوَتِي
2. Ask those knowledgeable of the abodes of glory,
That the stars on earth have adorned themselves in finery.
٢. وَسَلْ عَنْ قِبَابِ العِزّ مَنْ كَانَ عَالِماً
بِأنَّ النُّجُومَ الزُّهْرَ فِي الأرْضِ حَلَّتِ
3. Abodes clad in the purity of beauty,
Its purity has adorned every dress.
٣. قِبَابٌ كَسَاهَا صَافِيُ الحُسْنِ حُلَّةً
زَهَا حُسْنُهَا الصَّافِي على كُلّ حُلَّةِ
4. The light has ignited within it the lamp of its light,
Thus it encountered the darkness with its rays.
٤. وَأوْقَدَ فِيهَا النَّوْرُ مِصْبَاحَ نُورِهِ
فَلاَقَى الدُّجَى مِنْ نُورِهِ بِالأشِعَّةِ
5. The gardens of bliss have adorned themselves in robes,
Thus the gardens of flowers adorned themselves when you adorned yourself.
٥. جَلاَهَا ريَاض السعد في حلل البها
فجلت رياض الزهر لمّا تجلت
6. With your generous shelter, its plains have been illuminated,
We have been shown signs of glory and might.
٦. بِكَرْمِ وِطَاءٍ أسْفَرَتْ عَرَصَاتُهَا
لَنَا عَنْ مَلاَلِي عِزَّةٍ قَدْ تَبَدَّتِ
7. Thus in all we witness, everything is evidence for us,
And in all we hear, every melody.
٧. فَفِي كُلّ مَشْهُودٍ لَنَا كُلُّ شَاهِدٍ
وَفِي كُلّ مَسْمُوعٍ لَنَا كُلُّ نَغْمَة
8. Signs of kingdoms, moons providing guidance,
Lights of wisdom, secrets of knowledge,
٨. مَعَالِمُ أمْلاَكٍ وَأقْمَارُ مُهْتَدٍ
وَأنْوَارُ عِرْفَانٍ وَأسْرَارُ حِكْمَة
9. A palm tree's fronds, and the warbling of doves,
A herd of gazelle and the horizon of crescent moons.
٩. وَدَوْحَةُ أغْصَانٍ وَمَغْنَى حَمَائِمٍ
وَسَرْحَةُ غِزْلاَنٍ وَأفْقُ أهِلَّةِ
10. A spring's source, and a meadow of flowers,
An expanse of light, and a promenade of paradise.
١٠. وَمَنْبَعُ أنْهَارٍ وَرَوْضُ أزْاهِرٍ
وَمَرْبَعُ أنْوَارٍ وَسَرْحَةُ جَنَّةِ
11. You would think it a sky whose ground was adorned,
With flowers above the galaxy.
١١. تَخَالُ سَمَاءً أرْضَهَا إذْ تَطَلَّعَتْ
أزَاهِرُهَا كَالزُّهْرِ فَوْقَ المَجَرَّةِ
12. So from an iris watered by cups of lilies,
And from a rose greeting with sleeves of petals.
١٢. فَمِنْ بَانَةٍ سُقيَتْ بِأكْؤْسِ سَوْسَنٍ
وَمِنْ وَرْدَةٍ حَيَّتْ بِأكْمَامِ زَهْرَةِ
13. And from a stream flowing like twists of silver
When it ripples at the hands of the morning breeze.
١٣. وَمِنْ جَدْوَلٍ يَنْسَابُ كالرُّقْشِ عندمَا
تَجَعَّدَ مِنْ أيْدِي الصَّبَا حينَ هَبَّتِ
14. And from a bird singing over every iris,
Expressing in melody the strangest melody.
١٤. وَمِنْ طَائِرٍ يَشْدُو على كُلّ بَانَةٍ
فَأعْرَبَ بِالتَّلْحِينِ أغْرَبَ غُنَّةِ
15. And from a breeze refreshing us with its blowing,
About the fortunate ruler, the full moon of moons.
١٥. وَمِنْ نَسْمَةٍ يَرْوِي لَنَا طَيُّ نَشْرِهَا
عَنِ المَلِكِ المَسْعُودِ بَدْرِ الدُّجُنَّةِ
16. A king who took it upon himself to defend truth in the world,
When a group of them inclined towards injustice.
١٦. مَلِيكٌ تَصَدَّى يَنْصُرُ الحَقَّ في الوَرَى
إذَا عُصْبَةٌ مِنْهُمْ لِظُلْمٍ تَصَدَّتِ
17. A leader whose hands were supported with generosity,
And a lion whose paws restrained tyranny.
١٧. زَعِيمٌ بِهِ أيْدِي المكَارِمِ أُيِّدَتْ
وَلَيْثٌ بِهِ كَفُّ المَظَالِمِ كُفَّتِ
18. The brother of might and bounty, hoped for yet feared,
For days of peace or days of turmoil.
١٨. أخُو البَأسِ وَالنُّعْمَى يُرَجَّى وَيُخْتَشَى
لأيَّامِ سِلْمٍ أوْ لأيَّامِ فِتْنَةِ
19. Kind to the distressed, and when fate betrayed him,
Forgiving of the offender when they slipped.
١٩. رَؤُوفٌ عَلَى العَانِي وإذَا الدَّهْرُ خَانَهُ
صَفُوحٌ عَنِ الجَانِي إذَا الرّجْلُ زَلَّتِ
20. Charging against enemies from every side,
Compassionate to comrades in every situation.
٢٠. هَجُومٌ عَلَى الأعْدَاءِ منْ كُلّ جَانِبٍ
شَفُوقٌ عَلَى الأصْحَابِ فِي كُلّ وِجْهَةِ
21. The organizer of affairs does not make a judgment,
Without striking the flints of heedlessness.
٢١. مُدَبِّرُ أمْرٍ لَيْسَ يُصْدِرُ رَأيَهُ
فَيَقْرَعُ فِي إصْدَارِهِ سِنَّ غَفْلَةِ
22. An ally of dew who takes refuge in the abode of joy,
Its pillars raised above the sky.
٢٢. حَلِيفُ نَدىً يَأوِي إلَى بَيْتِ سُؤْددٍ
دَعَائِمُهُ فَوْقَ السِّمَاكِ تَعَلَّتِ
23. A sublime station - if the revolving spheres ascended to its gate,
They would not attain the loftiness of its threshold.
٢٣. تَرَقَّى مَحَلاٌّ لَوْ تَرَقَّتْ لِبَابِهِ
بُدُورُ الدَّيَاجِي رِفْعَةً مَا تَهَدَّتِ
24. A stalwart who returns infertility to fertility, as though
His hands unleashed pouring rain.
٢٤. جَوَادٌ يُعِيدُ الجَدْبَ خِصباً كَأنَّمَا
أيَادِيهِ بِالْغَيْثِ السَّكُوبِ اسْتَهَلَّتِ
25. No fault in his boons except that they,
Were prepared for the asker before asking.
٢٥. وَلا عَيْبَ فِي نَعْمَائِهِ غَيْرَ أنَّهَا
لِسَائِلِهِ قَبْلَ السُّؤَالِ أعِدَّتِ
26. He has an ambition that surpassed every ambition,
With the might of a kingdom that shamed every kingdom.
٢٦. لَهُ هِمَّةٌ فَاقَتْ عَلَى كُلّ هِمَّةٍ
بِدَوْلَةِ مُلْكٍ أخْجَلَتْ كُلَّ دَوْلَةِ
27. Happy is the delegation walking to his door,
They have praised the journey at dawn's delight.
٢٧. هَنِيئاً لِوَفْدٍ سَائِرِينَ لِبَابِهِ
لَقَدْ حَمدُوا المَسْرَى بِصُبْحِ المَسَرَّةِ
28. My patron! The goal has led,
To you, and the hands of fate are outstretched to you.
٢٨. أمَوْلاَيَ إنَّ القَصْد آلَ مَآلُهُ
إلَيْكَ وَأيْدِي الحَالِ نَحْوَكَ مُدَّتِ
29. So be kind to the frightened refugee seeking sanctuary,
Who has prepared for death at your displeasure.
٢٩. فَجُدْ للخلوف النَّاِزِح الدَّارِ بالرّضَا
عَلَى مُهْجَةٍ لِلْهُلْكِ فِيكَ اسْتَعَدَّتِ
30. For you are my asylum, my pillar, my purpose,
My honor, my sultan, my treasure, my backbone.
٣٠. فَأنْتَ مَلآذِي وَاعْتِمَادِي وَغَايَتِي
وَعزّي وَسُلْطَانِي وَذُخْرِي وَعُمْدَتِي
31. And you remain in safety, prosperity, bliss,
Ease, goodness, ascent and might.
٣١. وَلا زِلْتَ فِي أمْنٍ وَيُمْنِ وَبَهْجةٍ
وَيُسْرٍ وخَيْرِ وارْتِقَاءٍ وَعِزَّةِ
32. Bounty, victory, supremacy, joy,
Pride, glory, capability, loftiness.
٣٢. وَجَاءٍ وَنَصْرِ وَاعْتِلاَءٍ وَسُؤْدَدٍ
وَفَخْرٍ وَمَجْدٍ وَاقْتِدَارٍ وَرْفْعَةِ
