1. The fire of my passion and the horror of our separation
Have grayed, while still a child, my ardent heart

2. Indeed the day of separation is a long day
May God shorten the length of the day of separation

3. My guide Cupid kindled a raging battle in my heart
With the spears of Dahis, who pierced my soul

4. I spend the night and day sorrowful
Between desire that brings joy and sleep that brings rest

5. My happiness and solace are in rising up
While my love and yearning ever grow

6. I know not why, though tears course down my cheeks
What has turned their pure flow turbid against my will

7. Except that I imagine my beloved's eyes
Were moved to weep in pity for my darkness

8. May the waters of tears extinguish the fire
That burns my heart or revive the one pining away

9. My people, I have lit within the quarters a fire
With flames that consume the innermost hearts

10. Perhaps I will find guidance in its light
Or time will undo my fetters

11. I am weary, finding no way to salvation,
No path to certainty or fortune

12. Bear to the dwellings, gentle breeze, my ardent love
For the country I ransom with my soul

13. And spur me on to journey at dawn, and bear my soul
Between auspicious travel and guidance

14. And when you come to blissful Medina
Give greetings of peace to the guiding Prophet

15. Ahmad, the noblest of messengers, pillar of the House of Glory
Paragon of faith, Kaaba of worship

16. Manifestor of Truth, Manifestor of Truth, pure Taha
Warrant of God, sun of the horizon of Eternity

17. Cause of existence, spirit of the body of glory
Point of beginning, secret of the meaning of Eternity

18. Gazer of the eye, blossom of the garden of Life
Subtlety of hearing, branch of the Tuba tree of the heart

19. Smooth of cheek, languid of eye, melodious of voice
Vast of chest, repose of hands

20. Essence of Beauty, seal of cleansing
Source of Glory, lion of grandeurs

21. Garden of Generosity, gathering of Virtue has come to be
The ultimate goal, masterpiece of the magnanimous

22. The Messenger who intercedes, brings good tidings and warnings
Farthest extent of moderation, limit of intents

23. Chosen One, Content One, Lamp giving Light
New moon of guidance, star of guidance

24. Most Perfect of beings in nature and character
He fills all eyes and hearts

25. God created him before all existence
With a perfection, honor, and guidance unmatched

26. Pure in body before the clay was created
Unlike all bodies formed of clay

27. He is the origin, not born in the beginning
And the branch, by virtue of lineage

28. Whoever is illumined by the light of his beauty openly manifested
Will see truth however it wishes, without a how

29. To him came Idris, attaining the most high station
Most flourishing, of lofty pillar

30. Through him was Noah safeguarded in the ark
When the torrent engulfed the hills and valleys

31. Through him was Salih saved from Thamud
And Hud from the tribes of Ad

32. Through him Lot destroyed Sodom
Where they pursued the path of unbelief

33. Through him the Friend was rescued and fulfilled
The evil scheme of the obstinate Nimrod

34. Through him the Protected One ransomed Ismail
And chose him to dwell in the valley

35. Through him came Isaac the ardent, and Jacob
And the Tribes, graced with guidance

36. Through him the Divine subjugated ropes and birds and valleys for Solomon
And the jinn, beasts, winds and streams

37. Through him the whale conveyed Jonah
When he pleaded, regretting and striving

38. Through him the Divine saved Shuaib
And healed Job of the trial of woes

39. Through him the Spoke One was saved
From the guile of Pharaoh, lord of pegs

40. Through him came the Green Man and Al-Aziz
Elias and John, averting the evil of foes

41. Through him came Alexander, who guided
The world and opened cities

42. Through him Jesus brought tidings and was greeted
While still a babe in the cradle, calling greetings of peace

43. Through him the son of the palm-fiber weaver was promised
As well as the She-Camel and the people of the thicket

44. Through him came the glad tidings, the revelations
That the Chosen was born, generous of hands

45. To his mother the signs of Busra were shown
And the palaces of Damascus at his birth

46. For love of him Halima sought fertility
After dwelling in bare desert

47. For him Kisra's palace fell to ruins
And the lofty columns collapsed

48. By his light he dispelled the darkness
After it had covered each guide and straying

49. Through him the water of Saawa turned to fire
When the steeds of Persia became like ashes

50. Through him the meteors burned every fortress
From which disbelief was being proclaimed

51. The wolf became his informant about him
When the shepherd denied the sheep from him

52. The camel came to him finding comfort
Though before the fiercest of beasts

53. The gazelle was returned to him
When she tried to suckle another’s young

54. He called her back from sunset, and that sufficed
Saving her from the snare of the hunter

55. A cloud shaded him from the hot wind
And blessed him with pouring rain

56. For him the moon split in yearning to be near
For him the tree trunk moaned in fear of separation

57. The star of his cheek revives at dawn
Telling of his beauty, of his ardor

58. His cooling saliva expresses the perfection
Of his beauty, his brilliance shining forth

59. With a handful of pebbles he brought down an army
Unafraid of the might of lions

60. With them he erected minarets and dwellings
Whose strong pillars collapsed in seeking support

61. A thousand were satisfied by one saa, and sated
By a little milk, freely flowing

62. The infant affirmed his truth, calling out
You are indeed the Messenger of the Lord of Worshippers

63. His arm warned him though still a suckling babe
Beware the poison, O best of the generous

64. He healed the eye, it bowed to him, and enriched
The day it met him and the day it fought him

65. The dove protected him in the cave
When the spider wove its web according to God's decree

66. He invoked blessing on the tree trunk, so it inclined
Yearning and longing for the voice of the caller

67. To him came Qatadah complaining of blindness
So he restored his eye as a gift

68. With a gaze that granted him fortune
With a spit he healed the eye-covering of Ali

69. And gifted him immense bliss
With a breath he restored the cloven head of Khabbab

70. With a spit he repelled the enemies' hands
God protected him from the evil of Gawratha

71. When he tried to extinguish his shining light
The winds escorted him the journey of a month

72. In victory destroying the party of enemies
For him the earth is a mosque and pure

73. Wherever the call to prayer is proclaimed
He is the star of its beauty, nothing strange

74. That blossoms adorn the tender branches
Gabriel split his heart and filled it

75. With the wisdom of the Knowing, Guiding God
Thus, if his eyes briefly sleep

76. His heart is awake, pleased with the Generous
His resting-places were honored in tribulations

77. When clouds loomed black, portending evil
In the thick of clamor and raging fury

78. The atmosphere took on the redness of lightning
The darkness of night only lifted so

79. The stars' light re-ignited in devotion
If the philosopher saw the star of his ascent

80. He would not claim stars can be snared
Or the rain knew his bounty to the destitute

81. It would not hesitate to pour over deserts
Or the sun borrowed a ray from his brilliance

82. It would illuminate the cosmos in deepest darkness
Lord, expand his trace with generosity

83. By which the earth trembles and quakes
And see his awesome sermons with sword

84. White of face, true to promise
On a day of battle, radiant

85. Beneath a night with a piercing crescent
That Thursday he protected

86. So his day surpassed all feasts
With Abu Bakr the Caliph, who believed him,

87. The truthful book's guide
And Abu Hafs the Discerner, resolute,

88. With conviction and sturdy faith
And Uthman whom the Messenger gifted

89. His two daughters, the intercessor on the day of pleading
And the husband of the maiden, lion of Hisham

90. The sword, the banners, the steed
And his uncle and companions and progeny

91. And wives, then children
They are what they are, are they ought but

92. The striking eyes of war, staunchest of heroes
Fearing no horrors with God, neither heeding

93. Any but the Generous
They supported His religion and strengthened His sanctuary

94. With the swords of youths and reddened spears
They kept His covenant and exalted His supremacy

95. Guarded His word and foiled enemies
Willingly striving for the Garden of Eden

96. With souls sold on the day of strife
Manifesting the religion with polished swords

97. Vanquishing polytheism with ready blades
God ennobled them and protected them

98. And honored them with success and aid
They spoke the word of truth and righteous deeds

99. By adhering sincerely to litanies and rites
O their bliss, give glad tidings, wherever they are

100. The stars of faith, the chosen of the generous
Call them to guidance with the definitive Scripture

101. That makes the complex easy to follow
Fill the hearing with His signs, its halts and motions

102. As vocalized by Revelation in recital
You will find rain in the heaven of glory

103. And see the lion in the stoutest steeds
With might and vision he faced war and banner

104. Then fortune came with fortune and aid
Struggle granted him openings and victory

105. Subduing the nose of every obstinate one
His knowledge encompassed both worlds, and his forbearance

106. He is rain of bounty and sea of plenty
The dawn of his favor realized hopes

107. Surely it is the dawn in ascent and ignition
The inverted planets are cautious of his might

108. Laying low the necks of tyrants
God placed in him a wondrous mystery

109. Revealed in the cosmos of opposites
Astonishing in humility and omnipotence

110. In modesty, resolve and justice
O Messenger, we came to his guidance

111. So we came from misguidance to the guide
God forbid he have any likeness

112. O Imam of ascent, best of worshippers
Astray is one who tries to limit what is in you

113. By counting and numbers
Can the heavens and earth be contained as a measure?

114. Or the seas filled to capacity by supplies?
Or the sands counted and the drops enumerated

115. By counting each generous act?
God forbid! The matter is momentous

116. Not confined to thousands or individuals
You stood by the truth while people sat

117. And repelled obstinacy on the day of gathering
Polytheism knew your might when it raved

118. And dreams opposed your guidance
The jinn were captivated praising you

119. Till mankind was thrilled by that ecstatic voice
For you I have evident, burning longing

120. And nearness to your blossoms though remote
In your presence poetry in praise

121. Is my treasure and equipment for what I hope for
I care not though my people deny

122. Having tied myself to your unseverable bond
After being granted a vision of you

123. How could hopes be unrealized!
O Messenger, endeavor to accept

124. O Generous of world, return me with guidance
O Beloved of God, You Who pardons

125. O Rescuer of God, undo my bonds
Would that I knew what will be my plea, my excuse

126. On the day when we are called to account
When souls have no power to redeem souls

127. Taken far in distance
Except that I have taken praising the Beloved

128. Center of being, Cause of creation
Upon whom inanimate objects prayed and were given life

129. So gained acceptance and fortune
O his bliss with what it contains of pride

130. Would that I were part of this inanimate being
My refuge, pillar, and salvation

131. My hopes, wish, and support
My shelter, emancipator, and protector

132. My intercessor, rescuer, guidance
My lamp, supporter, and healer

133. My beloved, my qibla, my creed
Only through your blessings can I hope

134. To return to Medina and fortune
Remoteness has distanced me, extending

135. An era that has passed with little provision
I have tired of this abode until sleep

136. Has been replaced by vigil
Each day fate treats me harshly

137. With separation from homeland and children
When darkness falls it rains upon me

138. Arrows of misery, piercing my soul
O Most Merciful with the faithful, though

139. Mothers are not asked about their children
O Intercessor for sinners, though

140. Mothers are not asked about their children
You are my rain when I thirst for flowers

141. You are my rescue when I lack provisions
You are my store when I am called to account

142. You are my aid in all dire afflictions
So absolve me of sins, for I

143. Am helpless to shoulder the burdens
And aid me from disgrace, for my heart

144. Cannot withstand the hostile time
O God of beings, Granter of Gifts

145. O Responder to calls, Succor of the caller
Remove adversity, heal every sickness

146. Forgive sins, correct my darkened night
Protect the King with the King - my father Umar the Content

147. The lofty, mighty pillar
Aid him, and grant him mighty victory

148. Foil the schemes of every hostile foe
Prolong his life, and bless him

149. Make his remembrance last eternally
Grant him abundant good

150. And protect his supremacy from envious hands
Give him in the Gardens the best abode

151. After a felicitous life of righteousness
Guard with fortune his son, the best successor

152. None after him acceptable to the worshippers
The Exalted, Fortunate, cave of Bani Hafs

153. The guarded secret, lion of battle
Establish Your servant with victory and openings

154. And ascension, honor, guidance
Have mercy on all Muslims and bestow upon them

155. Acceptance of supplication and provision
Pardon my parents and perfect their strength

156. With continuing beautiful bestowal
Grant Ibn al-Khaldun from You lasting glory

157. And bounty overflowing with aid
What am I in the presence of Your pardon, my Lord

158. Is pardon ought but the act of the Generous?
And perpetuate upon us rains of prayers

159. And peace upon the Intercessor of worshippers
And upon the Family, Companions, and Successors

160. Following in guidance
With this healing litany the Wise One invoked:

161. “Lord, save me from the eyes of enviers.”
