1. O you with the mole, say to it as it appears
On the fairest of faces: Remain forever!

2. Some marks run along its channel,
Others adorn the cheek where gems are strung.

3. It partakes of a love that was between us,
So the keeper of trust is not like the betrayer.

4. Say you made a promise—fulfill it!
Breaking a vow bears no good for the oath-breaker.

5. Be generous to me today with your gift,
Do not stint—though I preceded you to the grave.

6. Who else shows joy when your abode draws near
Or cares that you’ve gone far away after me?

7. Your nearness to us is a comfort we gain,
Your distance a further affliction and pain.

8. When you draw near, my spirit rejoices in you,
Not like rejoicing when others draw near.

9. I speak, while the tears down my cheek slowly creep,
Staining it, though my cheek chides them to stop their flow.

10. God granted you our love, yet ingrate you’ve been;
You were granted no love, neither asked, I know.
