1. The caravan passed while you cared not,
Though I saw you desire playing the flute -
١. مَرَّ الحُمولُ وَما شَأونَكَ نَقرَةً
وَلَقَد أَراكَ تُشاءُ بِالأَظعانِ
2. Beneath the tents where the women lacked gaiety,
Being originally dissenters from the tribe of Na'man.
٢. تَحتَ الخُدورِ وَما لَهُنَّ بَشاشَةٌ
أُصُلاً خَوارِجَ مَن قَفا نَعمانِ
