1. Like a veil the morning lowered its mask
Over a pagedew-laden with flowers

2. In a meadow where its valleys suckled
The aftermath of every passing cloud

3. The morning breeze scattered in it
Pearls of dew and coins of light

4. The narcissus branch has worn its finery
And the rivers braided necklaces of hail

5. I lingered where the laughing waters form a pane
Of tumbling rapids and rushing tide

6. The wind shakes the meadows’ forelocks
And the dew drips down the faces of the trees

7. Dividing glances ‘twixt the charms
Of a riding she-camel’s hind and slender waist,

8. A doe whose boughs the anklets’ chime
As dawn lifts off the brow of day

9. She sways her limbs, and mayhap
Sheds on it the mantle of light
