1. Good tidings, as the face of morning dawned
And the scout glimpsed a flashing light

2. And thunder rumbled, wetting the dew
Flowing, racing with the winds’ steeds

3. So the flowers nodded in the hills’ laps
And raindrops pattered on the sand dunes

4. Breezes blew, exhaling gently
Making the air fragrant, spreading that scent

5. A songbird chirped melodiously
Bursting out from the feathers of its wings

6. Does it see the branch of the wild plum tremble
Swaying its supple boughs happily?

7. Or did a zephyr go to revive the branch of myrtle
So the new buds smiled, mouths of blossoms?

8. Glory sways the spear with pride
While the splendid religion raised the banner

9. And the people came together; none disobeyed
The wise leader’s righteous opinion

10. Best leader whose presence in the two holy sites
Is seriousness and vigor filling the expanse

11. Who sneezes with a zealous nose; to him
Every living cheek humbly kneels

12. He thundered, destroying them, roaring
So not even two nanny goats clashed there

13. His voice drowned out their voices
A lion’s roar is not a jackal’s yelp

And he helped the son of Isam with what

15. He composed in eloquent, excellent phrases
In a letter bearing the loftiness

16. Of bright, smiling, radiant faces
Auspicious, if it touched hard, frozen stone

17. Water would flow freely from it, pouring forth
So glory attends the Chosen One’s side

18. And sovereignty flutters the wing of success
Baring white faces like the full moon

19. Fiercely gleaming eyes of spears
White and shining, the brow of the exalted

20. Open-handed, outstretched, right hand of generosity
So say to those who blamed him, lost:

21. Is the darkness of night like the dawn’s light?
How can you repay him? Can they be equal,

22. The gravity of seriousness and the softness of jest?
Distinct qualities have emerged

23. Pure wine is not bitter aloe juice
My fighting him was to guard against harm

24. While upholding the way is bearing arms
Where is a deep green sea compared

25. To the spate rushing down white slopes?
It rose in waves; whoever sits firmly atop it,

26. In his hands every spear is sharp.
So do not sleep while an envious rival

27. Pulls the reins, jealous of the wings’ flight
A harmful wound has weakened him

28. Wounds of fate are most penetrating
Tears slipped out furtively

29. Sometimes intermingled with sighs
None chokes with tears but the passionate
