1. Alas, the days of youth have passed away and vanished,
And the days of prime youthfulness have gone.

2. I spent it in the shadows of wishes,
Avoiding the fruits of acceptance.

3. Then it went away - I reckon it as a
Turbulent star or a flashing lightning.

4. It did not stop to rest, approaching,
Until it turned away, bending off.

5. And it passed without twisting or harming whoever
Turned away from it or exposed himself to it.

6. And only the night of youth shone
With the dawn of old age that saddened me.

7. The light of guidance shone in my eyes,
And in my heart the fire of sorrow.

8. And from my cheek blackened what was white,
I used to see the night white because of it.
