1. The polish of lights winds its arm,
A breeze wraps its branches fragrantly.
١. وَصَقيلَةِ الأَنوارِ تَلوي عِطفَها
ريحٌ تَلُفُّ فُروعُها مِعطارُ
2. It gave the gray dawn a more beautiful dawn,
Clouds, trains of fates, a conjurer.
٢. عاطى بِها الصَهباءَ أَحوى أَحوَرٌ
سَحّابُ أَذيالِ السُرى سَحّارُ
3. The light is a necklace and the branches tales,
The trunk, a belt and the bay, a bracelet.
٣. وَالنورُ عِقدٌ وَالغُصونُ سَوالِفٌ
وَالجِذعُ زَندٌ وَالخَليجُ سِوارُ
4. In a garden, the shade of palms cast a shadow,
And the lights gazed at it through palm leaves.
٤. بِحَديقَةٍ ظَلَّ اللِمى ظِلّاً بِها
وَتَطَلَّعَت شَنَباً بِها الأَنوارُ
5. The rod danced in it, and the ground drank,
The doves lined up and the currents clapped.
٥. رَقَصَ القَضيبُ بِها وَقَد شَرِبَ الثَرى
وَشَدا الحَمامُ وَصَفَّقَ التَيّارُ
6. The singing leaves wound its arm, the flexible stalks,
And the illuminations curled up at its sides.
٦. غَنّاءَ أَلحَفَ عِطفَها الوَرَقُ النَدي
وَاِلتَفَّ في جَنَباتِها النُوّارُ
7. It looked from every vantage point, every moment
Like pages and flowers from each branch.
٧. فَتَطَلَّعَت في كُلِّ مَوقِعِ لَحظَةٍ
مِن كُلِّ غُصنٍ صَفحَةٌ وَعِذارُ
