1. He brought honey-sweet wine and pillows
Polished swords and jewelry and tales.
١. وَأَغيَدَ مَعسولِ اللَمى وَالمَراشِفِ
صَقيلِ المُحَلّى وَالحِلى وَالسَوالِفِ
2. I drank it as lightning furled its wings,
And a tender rain fell for the thirsty ground.
٢. أَنَختُ بِهِ وَالبَرقُ يَهفو جَناحَهُ
وَلِلدَيمَةِ الهَطلاءِ حَنَّةُ عاطِفِ
3. So I conversed with one gentle of speech, face, and manners,
Beautiful, adorned with jewels and courtesies.
٣. فَنادَمتُ حُلوَ البِرِ وَاللَفظِ وَاللِمى
جَميلَ المُحَيّا وَالحِلى وَالعَوارِفِ
