1. My eyes guarantee that I am infatuated
My heart is shattered around your connection, wandering

2. Your heart is harsh, it has no mercy for me
And your glance deceives that you are merciful

3. You did wrong and were not afraid of the consequences of your betrayal
Eyelids that have heroic deeds among lovers

4. I think God's punishment seized me in passion
So your waist is wronged and your behind is unjust

5. And your teasing glance does not awaken from grief
As you have grieved elegant bodies in you

6. And your cheek always hurts with glances
So each glance has blood and words

7. They say the bending branch did not possess its waist
And the softness of fleece did not possess its beauty

8. And in its collar the full moon of adornment appeared
Adorned with pieces of the dark night, reddish

9. And they said, the red throat is a gemstone
With its sweet smile and mouth a seal

10. You have the highest example, and I apologize in ignorance
In reproaching them, the blamer in you is blaming

11. You are nothing but a sign of God in the world
And His wisdom, if a scholar claims knowledge

12. They have certainly belittled your right in ignorance and I have sinned
In what wandering doubts threw at you

13. As they belittled the right of John the son of Dhul-Noon
They said he is the son of Sa'da in good and the seal

14. And they said Hakam told of the courage of Dhrigham
And that is not what the tiny claim

15. And they said he is time that has no protection but him
He is the Protected and time is his servant

16. And that I am the lion of the forest in his terrible might
When he prowls in the valleys and rugged dark hills

17. And from where does the sharp sword have its light
When resolves are drawn from it for war

18. And from where is the excellence of the reddish sword
When generosity flows from its sheath

19. We have a bright future that is no illusion
That if tasted one day by people, very bitter

20. On him is the resemblance of al-Ma’moon Yahya
It appears that to Isma’eel he has smiles

21. Two pillars established the house of glory on piety
A foundation and spearheads of spears as supporters

22. Abu al-Hasan, I take in the scent of my praise, animating
My heart and my poetry is gleaming

23. You wore the adornment of virtue woven by piety
And its teacher virtues and glory arranging

24. And al-Ma’mun bequeathed to you his sharp sword
With which you did not cease to wound skulls and cadavers

25. So be resolute and do not hesitate, for you are sharp
A sword in the hands of God brandished

26. For you is the singing pasture in glory that did not cease to
Tame it from your watery clouds

27. Gardens for us, prose rhymed in your praise in its midst
As if we are doves upon their treetops

28. And for you, O’ virgin of my praise I floated to you
As singers float to you precious goods

29. Your dress is made of silk with genius in it
As wafts spread from the flowers of gardens

30. I am not poor in what I described
Nor am I a liar in what I claimed

31. Your finest qualities dictate pride and time is scribe
And your eminence gives generosity and poetry rhyming

32. So live forever the glory intended for you by foes
And the stars envy us in you out of hatred
