I said no, and in it is the sin of sincerity

3. My heart is yours, O Yusuf of beauty secretly
Be gentle, for I am Ya'qub

4. I have melted completely and sorrow whitened my eye
And I, for my passion, am overcome

5. I tore my garment before my share came
And for ardour sometimes the reverse and a garment

6. Yearnings have pulled me to the tune and the
Melody desperately, and the enamoured is pulled

7. You have returned me from you by the meeting seeing
And give life to my death, O you the Beloved

8. I, woe to me, have borne what my heart
In you cannot be borne by hearts

9. I in your dangerous love am a stranger
And a stranger from my manner and style

10. How much from the essence of the verses of my secret
In my passion for you is a wondrous matter

11. So a subtlety sparkled and a quality shone
And a silent one wept and an orator shouted

12. And one who judges drooped and one far hung
And a bird sang and a rod shook

13. I have not been absent from you a blink of an eye
And yet the lover may lose the lover

14. In my chests I have written with ecstasy a line
So it is a predestined inscribed line

15. Bring, tear this veil for intimacy and not
Evil suspicions are a guardian

16. You have veiled from your slaves, give victory
For your lover has erased his patience

17. He was absent from his being. Perhaps from the sail of
Grace a meaning with which the hidden desire
