1. Exalt the father of blessings, and know his worth,
And keep for him in your heart’s secret the duty of reverence.

2. Keep him at a distance in life with politeness,
The lion is taken from the side for fear.

3. Realize for him your utmost reverence,
And in the state of your heart, be intimate with him.

4. And make your secret’s life spring from his secret,
That you may see him, for the long term, as a companion.

5. This is the sealed treasure, an amazing subtlety,
With it, the Ancient rolled up wonders.

6. You meet it through burning renunciation, silently,
And it dissolves in the embers of lamentation.

7. It suffices that in the law of reality,
He never sought other than God.

8. For you is intimacy when the Messenger wrote a note,
With which he conferred ranks on those present.

9. He gave him the judgement of truth among their rows,
And endowed him with gifts of generous favor.

10. And honored him with specified love,
And signaled to me, “Make him an intimate companion.”

11. He will shine, a pearl in the folds of mysteries
And overflow, when hidden, like stars.

12. Revive, by God’s command—you are our party.
For you we poured out the clouds in the unseen.

13. And remember my station, O my son, for I
Became one with you in subtleties and fibers.
