1. Visit a place where there are no foxes to disturb you,
And take inspiration from its racecourse,

2. Aim for the spacious abode of Ibn Al-Khizam,
And fill your parchment with praise of his excellence,

3. Make his path and conduct
Always the foundation of proper behavior,

4. And when you read the texts of Islamic law,
Take the example of the Messenger as your measure,

5. God has blessed his garden, and the earth covers his tomb,
As if studded with diamonds,

6. The loving visitor comes to his door with reverence,
Laying down his restless heart before him,

7. It's as if he is a gathering place for visitors,
Embracing all who sit with him,

8. His blessed precinct exudes ambergris,
Having spread out carpets in the countryside,

9. From the House of Abu Al-'Abbas they inherited
Strength and took on the burden of the 'Abbasids before them

10. How many times, when sedition erupted,
Did the people prove themselves courageous fighters?

11. They returned the ambition of their secret
And scorned all else as worthless,

12. God purified them and kept them far
From the defilements that taint ordinary men,

13. They met hardships with lofty, Alid determination,
And considered tribulation a fine garment,

14. How many times did they turn copper to gold
And leave mere gold battered by the blows?

15. My lord 'Ali rose from their breasts
To stand tall among the sublime,

16. God revealed his majestic self at times
When he invoked remembrance of Him,

17. Take the train of his robe as armor against every calamity,
And leave behind, when war erupts, the coward's cloak.

18. The Sword of Divine Care, from the scabbard of Ahmad,
Is the highest aspiration of the saintly warriors.

19. The unlettered master, the lion whose might
Crushes the foe if he dares draw near,

20. God clothed his heart with a special grace
That made him wear the garb of the Most High,

21. Lion of striving, Abu Al-Ma'arij, his might
In the unseen was like what you see in the visible realm,

22. An ocean churning with holy subtleties
That drew together saints of all religions,

23. He strung meanings into an eloquent beauty
That carried the minds of the masses into wordplay.

24. You will see riders coming to his tomb
On their steeds racing with Jesus himself.

25. This gift to him, this knowledge of the unseen,
His Creator granted him, so leave other men be!

26. He probed the truths, a bird in the precinct
Where no man can reach out anymore,

27. A gleam from the Light that fills the Tabernacle,
Rising above his noble ancestors,

28. With it honor his mighty grandson,
Who succeeded the sayyids and the wise.

29. An elite whom none can prevent from his needs
If he hopes for a breath of his kindness,
