1. With our ascension, you fly to the highest celestial sphere,
And travel through the essence of affairs to the Master.

2. Do not walk slowly in this path, O waverer!
Leave those who took the path of guidance some respite.

3. Strip the sword of resolve from all deviations,
Neither stop nor continue on the path.

4. Turn away from all temporal occurrences to their Lord,
And do not busy yourself with anything but His occupation.

5. If they grant you dominion over the heavens and earth in a blink,
Say "No!" from behind a veil of obscurity.

6. Follow my way and walk my path
To God - do not witness to me any deed.

7. Divest yourself of all existences and lie down
Upon the mat of surrender, O wise one!

8. Beware of the devil in every wondrous thing,
Though excellent in subtle enticement.

9. Be with the poor, pleased with their state,
Take them as people of distinction, my friend.

10. If you speak a word on the path, speak it
With justice, and separate in speech.

11. Shun the types of deviance, sever their ropes -
The rope of guidance suffices, no other ropes!

12. Do not see any power or strength in the creation,
For creation has no power or strength at all.

13. Take the sweetness of God's command as your drink,
For you will not find any drink sweeter than its flavor.

14. If you sit in the lower gathering, do not forget
The higher assembly in your states.

15. Oppose with the state of your heart whoever sees himself,
And be a shadow for whoever comes broken.

16. Shun the path of whoever leads to strangers,
And agree with the lover of God, be he few or many.

17. Whoever relates a prophetic tradition,
Measure it by the light of the Book, it is most sublime.

18. Accept only the immaculate Sunna of Ahmad,
All else is filled with ignorance.

19. If you are among people, conceal your innermost secret,
And in solitary retreats, surrender to it fully.

20. Dispute for the sake of religion, and be pleased with its people -
Disputants, but do not be domineering, He is most High.

21. If it is said the Chosen One or his Companions said:
Say "Glorify the matter!" Rather, follow the saying.

22. If something from us agrees with their words, take it,
Otherwise, reject us altogether.

23. For we are but slaves, if we were upon a path other than theirs -
Can flowers compare to their masters if they slip?

24. Not all saints are but groups
Revolving toward the overflowing basin of the Master of all aid.

25. Whoever the misguided does not return to
And whoever follows the misguided in his path, goes astray.

26. Beware of the conceit of union and its illusion,
And the oneness of an evil statement by its sayer.

27. Do not accept the ecstasies of men, even if they seem lofty,
In every confusing uproar, they are baseless.

28. Submit to the state of those spiritually absorbed in God,
Though they differ from the guide - they have introduced nullity.

29. For the allowed is obligatory, recommended and vain,
Forbidden, prohibited - specify within its rulings the path.

30. Give every spiritual station the rule of its state,
If you wish to be called to the inhabitants of the heavens.

31. This is the path of Ibn Rifa'i, our master -
My father of two sciences, the imminent aid of greatest sweetness.

32. We took it from him in conduct, chained together,
We drank it in drafts from the cups of his taverns.

33. With that, I have direct permission
From my Master, God, upon His Essence blessings!
