1. Crave passionately, for passion has men
Weep as much as you want when your people depart
١. تِهْ غَراماً فللغَرامِ رِجالُ
وابْكِ ما شئتَ يومَ قومُكَ شالُوا
2. Mourn sadly on the day of farewell
Perhaps their covenant with you will be prolonged
٢. وتمَلْمَلْ يومَ الوَداعِ كئيباً
رُبَّما عهدَهُمْ عَليكَ أطالُوا
3. Disrobe from your current state among them
These abodes are but shadows
٣. وتجرَّدْ عن طَوْرِ كونِكَ فيهِمْ
إنَّما هذه البَرايا ظِلالُ
4. Rule love with yearning always
With the matter of yearning, there is no saying and talking
٤. واحْكمِ الوُدَّ بالهُيامِ دَواماً
ما بأَمرِ الهُيامِ قيلٌ وقَالُ
5. Purify your heart if you want their love
Many a saying is repelled by deeds
٥. طهِّرِ القلبَ إنْ أَردْتَ هَواهُمْ
رُبَّ قولٍ ترُدُّهُ الأَفعَالُ
6. In passion, be not most of tongue
Without heart, for love has calamities
٦. لا تكنْ في الغَرامِ رَبَّ لِسانٍ
دونَ قلبٍ فللهَوى أهْوَالُ
7. How many people passion overwhelmed
And cast them, so they stumbled when they spoke
٧. كم أُناسٍ طَغى الغَرامُ عليهِمْ
ورَماهُمْ فزُحْزِحوا إذْ قالوا
8. Conceal the secret as much as you can and beware
If all your fortune is words
٨. اكْتِمِ السِّرَّ ما قدرتَ وحاذَرْ
إنْ تكنْ كلَّ حظِّكَ الأَقْوَالُ
9. Among us lovers there are men
Who are men in appearance and meaning are mountains
٩. إنَّ في العاشِقينَ منَّا رِجالاً
هُمْ رِجالٌ شَكْلاً ومعنًى جِبَالُ
10. Their circumstances tried them, so they persevered
With steadfastness while circumstances declined
١٠. صارَعَتْهُمْ أَحوالُهُمْ فاسْتَقَرُّوا
بثَباتٍ وزالتِ الأَحْوَالُ
11. Realize the taste and follow the trace and be sincere
And be enabled, for desire has heroes
١١. حقِّقِ الذَّوقَ واتبَعِ الإثْرَ واخْلِصْ
وتمكَّنْ فللوَغى أَبْطَالُ
12. The people behaved wildly at the nip of a cup
And were enticed with the drink, so they inclined
١٢. عربَدَ القومُ عندَ نهلَةِ كأسٍ
واسْتُميلوا مع الشَّرابِ فمالُوا
13. We drank the cups until they were exhausted
As if the drink was clear water
١٣. وشرِبْنا الكُؤُسَ حتَّى تناهَتْ
وكأنَّ الشَّرابَ ماءٌ زُلالُ
14. This is the family of Imam Rifa’i
And he is the exemplar deputy of the Prophet
١٤. هذه عِتْرَةُ الإِمامِ الرِّفاعِيِّ
وهو مولًى عن النَّبيِّ مِثَالُ
15. The lion of the people, their unique guide
The foremost of the gnostics, however long they lasted
١٥. أَسَدُ القومِ فردُهُمْ مُقْتَداهُمْ
سابِقُ العارِفينَ أيَّانَ طالُوا
16. The possessor of proofs, their shaykh and young man
With whose proof the rational minds are solved
١٦. ذو البَراهينِ شيخُهُمْ وفَتاهُمْ
مَنْ ببُرْهانِهِ يُحَلُّ العِقَالُ
17. The Sublime Imam of perfect sanctity
Around whose door hopes revolved
١٧. الإِمامُ السَّامي الجَنابِ المُفَدَّى
والَّذي حولَ بابِهِ الآمَالُ
18. His circumstances taught us the conduct of truth
Evidently, and the blessing of states
١٨. علَّمَتْنا أحْوالُهُ سيرَةَ الصِّدْ
قِ عِياناً ونِعْمَتِ الأَحْوَالُ
19. Haidari, the keeper of secrets, explainer of the
Sublimities of meanings, doer of them
١٩. حَيْدَرِيُّ الأَسرارِ سَبَّارُ غايا
تِ المَعالي قَوَّالُها الفَعَّالُ
20. The master of saints, axis of their shelter
And who poured from his hand the attainment
٢٠. سيِّدُ الأَولِياءِ قُطْبُ رَحاهُمْ
والَّذي سَحَّ من يَدَيهِ النَّوَالُ
21. How much did the Merciful effuse in him of conditions
In whose reports examples were struck
٢١. كم أفاضَ الرَّحمنُ فيه شُؤناً
ضُرِبَتْ في أَخْبارِها الأَمْثَالُ
22. His morals made known to us the conduct of the law
In taste, O excellent are those attributes
٢٢. عرَّفَتْنا أَخلاقُهُ سيرَةَ الشَّا
رِعِ ذَوْقاً يا نِعْمَ تلكَ الخِصَالُ
23. The people of hearts in every lowland
Are his dependents until the arising
٢٣. إنَّ أهلَ القُلُوبِ في كلِّ فجٍّ
هُمْ عَلَيْهِ حتَّى القِيامَ عِيَالُ
