1. Forsaking the heart's meaning with you is allowed
While you possess it without the wilderness

2. Fear God in pouring on an enemy unjustly treated
And do not cut him off, for by Allah, he is helpless

3. On what thing from you is the estrangement deserved
Strengthen him and revive him from what is in him and natural dispositions

4. You estranged a loving one whose body became thin from distress
And whose innermost being melted, and love in the heart settled

5. And from the wonders of your claim, you are infatuated
With my love, yet in love you over me are not victorious

6. So do not claim my love while you oppose me
And do not blame me, for indeed from you I recoiled

7. For there is no good in a bosom friend lacking loyalty
Nor in a passion which has harm and conflict
